Our village has been facing the brunt of pollution for the last 20 years. The Alang ship-breaking yard has led to water poisoning. We don’t get clean drinking water. In the last few years, the number of miscarriages has increased. I have lost my foetus four times in a row. Not just me, at least nine women in the village have lost their children with similar symptoms. Pollution because of the yard must be responsible for this. Birds have disappeared in the last 10 years. The area is not in a shape to take the additional burden of a nuclear plant. It will destroy whatever little we are left with.”
