A digital subscription to The Hindu will provide you access to premium features such as personalised article recommendations, quick briefings on the day's news, ability to bookmark articles for later reading, and more.

Please note: The Hindu's current digital subscription packages do not cover crosswords and e-paper.

By subscribing, you can avail yourself of the following features:

  • Today's Paper:
  • A quick way to access the print editions of The Hindu online. Read articles from the day's print edition, arranged in a simple list format and sorted according to the regions, sections, and supplements in which they appeared.

  • Unlimited access:
  • Read as many articles as you wish without any limitations

  • Faster pages:
  • Moving from one article to the next is much smoother as the pages load instantly.

  • Personalised Dashboard:
  • You choose what you want to see. This feature allows you to set the topics on which you want to see alerts and updates.

  • Personalised recommendation
  • We will show you articles that really matter to you, and which you enjoy reading.

  • Bookmarks:
  • Save articles to be read later at your convenience. You will be able to see the articles you have saved on your dashboard.

  • Briefings:
  • Stay up to date on news without the tediousness of visiting multiple pages. We give you a short briefing on the most important news three times a day -- morning, afternoon, and evening.

e-paper is only available with our All Access Pass. If you have subscribed to the All Access Pass you will have access to the Digital PDF version of the newspaper as well.

The sign-up process will ask you to provide and verify your e-mail address or mobile number using an OTP (One Time password). Once it is verified, you can set your password. Congratulations! You are now a registered THG user.

If you are a new user, who has never had an account registered with us using your e-mail address or mobile number, you will need to sign up for our trial plan. To activate the trial plan, you will need to sign up and make a payment of just Re. 1. Please note that payment modes accepted are credit cards (KOTAK, ICICI, PNB & CITIBANK) and debit cards only. UPI, Net banking, wallets and AMEX are not applicable

Clicking on the 'Subscribe' button anywhere on the site will take you to the Subscription Plans page.

Clicking 'Subscribe' in the Sign in/ Sign up landing page will also take you to the Subscription plans page.

In the Subscription Plans page

Step 1: Select a suitable plan.

Step 2: You will be redirected to a page with plan and price details.

Step 3: You can then proceed to make payment.

Step 4: Once you choose to proceed with the payment, you will be taken to the payment gateway page. You can select the mode of payment and filling any required fields, you can click 'Pay Now'. You will now be taken to the Payment Gateway to complete the transaction.

Step 5: After the payment is done, you will receive an SMS or e-mail from us on whether your transaction has succeeded or failed. In case of a failed transaction, a message will appear letting you know that the transaction has failed.

If you get a 'Payment Success' screen at the end of the process, you are now a subscribed user.

Yes. You can use the same username and password to access all the Digital Subscription products of The Hindu Group. This list includes the following sites:

  4. Frontline- frontline.thehindu.com
  5. The Hindu Crossword+ - crossword.thehindu.com

You can also use this ID to access subscription on The Hindu android mobile application.

You will need a different password for your e-paper account. Your username is the email address shared by you during the registration process. The initial password will be emailed to you within 24-48 working hours of your subscription. If the e-paper plan activation takes longer than 48 working hours, the plan activated date will be considered as the start date. For example, if you subscribe to the pack today and you receive the e-paper activation email tomorrow, your e-paper subscription start date will be taken at tomorrow's date.

No. You cannot cancel any one of these subscriptions at this time. If for some valid reason (as deemed by THG Publishing Pvt Ltd.), you wish to cancel your subscription, all the plans will be deactivated. Please send an email to customersupport@thehindu.co.in

Passwords are different for epaper products alone and these would have to be set up from the epaper websites. For all other products, the credentials would be common. After updating the password, you can acccess these products using the new password.

The All access Pass is a Digital Pass and does not include the print subscription.

The All Access Pass is applicable for The Hindu Android & iOS apps. It is not applicable for the BusinessLine mobile apps.

For our new subscribers who have opted for a recurring plan, yes, your subscription will be renewed automatically. For all other users, once your subscription expires, you would need to revisit the Subscriptions Plan page and select a plan.

Before your subscription expires, we will alert you via SMS or e-mail and share an update on your dashboard, so that you're kept informed about this.

You have complete control over your subscription and can contact us at customersupport@thehindu.co.in to change or cancel at any time.

Unregistered readers will have free access to limited number of articles along with advertisements, but without the premium features such as personalised dashboard and briefings. If you have not already subscribed, or tried out our trial plan, we urge you to give it a go.

Yes. Please note that as a subscribed user, you will have full access to the product and will not have to pay anything extra to experience our premium features on the app. You can log into the app with your registered email ID/ phone number.

As a digital subscriber, you can pay via debit or credit card, net banking, e-wallet, UPI. UPI and e-wallet and net banking are not applicable if you have opted for a recurring plan.

For recurrent plans refund is not applicable. For all other plans users are only eligible for refunds during the first 7 days post making the purchase. For Giveaway campaigns, wherein the user will get free gifts, material, etc. refunds are not applicable. For plans with cashback offers, refunds are not applicable. Chargeback requests will only be processed if the request was made within 10 days from the date of payment.

To apply for a refund please write to customersupport@thehindu.co.in, along with details such as your transaction ID (available in your invoice), your registered ID (mobile number/ email address) and the reason for the refund.

All users are eligible to the trial plan. This is a one-time benefit that users get when signing up with us for the first time

Once your refund has been accepted, it takes around 7-10 days to process

Yes. If you have registered either your mobile number or your e-mail address with us, you can use either of them to log in to your account.

No. Your e-mail address and mobile number are your unique identifiers. For the safekeeping of your account and to share better recommendations, we only allow one e-mail and one mobile number per subscriber.

To set your preferences, log in using your registered account and go to Preferences.

To change the plan, please go to the Subscriptions Plan page. If you subscribe to a new plan while another plan is active, the new plan will take effect from the day your current plan expires.

If your payment has gone through but you're still unable to activate your plan, send us an email with the following details:

  • Transaction ID
  • Transaction amount
  • Plan Name
  • Your Registered ID
  • Date of transaction
  • Your Bank Name
  • Mode of transaction (Debit Card, Credit Card, e-Wallet)

An OTP (One Time Password) can sometimes get delayed due to network issues. Kindly wait for five minutes for this to reach you on your device.

If you are still unable to get an OTP, you can write to us on customersupport@thehindu.co.in and we will get back to you right away.

For a failed transaction, the amount refunded by the bank will not include the GST collected. If accepted, the refund will get processed in 7 to 10 working days.

The prices for subscribers outside India are different and are in U.S. dollars

Conversion of digital to print subscription is not possible

The Today's Paper section is a premium section and is available to users who have an active subscription plan or have an active trial plan after signing up with us for the first time

To change your password, please go to My Profile page and select 'Change Password'.

Yes, you can use the same account. However, you will need a separate package to be bought to access premium features at any other Hindu Product

Right now, our subscription product is unavailable to EU users

If you have selected a recurring plan, your subscription will get renewed automatically when it expires, and payment will be deducted from your connected account. Right now, recurring plans are available only on the 1-month and 1-year plans for our first time subscribers.

You can cancel your plan any time. There are no cancellation fees. You can continue to use the services after cancellation, till the end of the billing cycle. There will be no refunds.

Switching plans during a subscription period is not possible. Once you have selected a plan, you can only switch to a new plan after the current plan has ended.

No. At the moment, it is not possible to upgrade/downgrade to a new recurring plan during your subscription period

The plan will be renewed the day after the billing cycle ends.

If the transaction does not go through the first time, we will provide a grace period of 3 days from the day your plan expires. During this time, you will still be able to access the services. The automated system will try processing your transaction again. If we are unable to process the transaction in these 3 days, this plan will no longer be renewed.

Recurring payments are available via all credit cards, select debit cards (CITI, ICICI, PNB, KOTAK). It is not available for payments via UPI, wallets and net banking payment modes.

Yes, your payment details are safe. A recent directive from RBI makes it mandatory to have additional authentication pass code verified by VISA (VBV) or MSC (Master Secure Code) which has to be entered when making any purchase online. Thus, making online purchases secure.
