India has developed its first medium range cruise missile called Nirbhay or `fearless’, similar in effect to the American Tomahawk missile. This two stage sub-sonic missile is launched like a rocket and then an aeroplane like engine glides it to its destination. It can carry nuclear weapons and can be used from land and air. This terrain hugging missile can fly at tree top and evade radars and even loiter near target before attacking.
